$1million for WA’s ex-servicemen
and women
The State Government will provide $1million
to help RSL Clubs around Western Australia as part
of a two-year extension of the ANZAC Day Small Grants
Program.

Perth runs out on top of major new event
Perth has clinched another major new tourism event -
Interhash 2008 - which is expected to attract thousands
of interstate and international visitors to Western
Australia.
Tourism Minister Sheila McHale said Interhash 2008,
a participation event involving the famous Hash House
Harriers running club, would see up to 6,000 people
running during the day and socialising at night.

Perth plugs in for international music spectacular
Perth is set to host an international music industry
event similar to one in the United Kingdom that launched
bands Oasis and Coldplay.
Tourism Minister Sheila McHale, who is also Minister
for Culture and the Arts, today announced Perth had
beaten other countries to host ‘In The City
AAA’, a new four-day music industry event set
to attract the world’s most influential music
industry leaders.

Major upgrade to Perth's main
wastewater treatment plants
The State Government will provide
$352million over the next five years to upgrade three
main metropolitan wastewater treatment plants.
Water Resources Minister John Kobelke today announced
the upgrade to the Beenyup, Woodman Point and Subiaco
wastewater treatment plants would be one of the most
significant ever undertaken.

WA continues to grow faster
than the nation
New ABS data out today shows Western
Australia’s economy outperformed the national
economy in 2005-06.
Gross State Product (GSP) data show that in real
terms, WA’s economy grew at 4.9 per cent in
2005-06, much higher than the national rate of 2.8
per cent over the same period.
